Ravenna

Ravenna in its 1500 years of history was the capital of the Western Roman Empire, the Kingdom of King Theodoric of the Goths and The Byzantine Empire in Europe, becoming one of the most important cities of art in Italy with the most important collection of mosaics of the fifth and sixth centuries and eight monuments included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. This city still has the remains of the great poet Dante Alighieri and keeps alive his memory with important cultural events, wich are in addition to periodic high-profile exhibitions that are hosted by MAR, the city’s art museum that houses over several permanent collection.
Besides the cultural aspect this charming town offers plenty of entertainment venues hosting numerous theme parks including Mirabilandia and the new Zoo Safari Le Dune del Delta, as well as offering along its 35 km coastline a rich variety of recreational facilities, equipped bathing facilities, restaurants and nightclubs.
For nature lovers Ravenna offers in addition to numerous bike paths that allow you to access anywhere in the city, the natural park Punta Alberete and the pinewoods of San Vitale and Classe wich are part of the protected natural park of Delta del Po.
